Anxiety and Excitement

Today I went to get fitted for hearing aids. I had to retake a hearing test. I failed. Again. Hearing tests to me, are like Algebra tests are to people that suck at Algebra. (as I do) They are intensely hard and stressful.

After my test, I tried out a couple of aids. At one point the audiologist went into the hallway where I couldn't see her. She asked me questions....and I could hear them! I immediately burst into tears. The general rule is, if I can't see you..I can't hear you.

I was embarrassed, but apparently it's not the first time that has happened to my audiologist. She had a box of tissues at the ready.

I'm looking forward to getting my aids. That is a statement that I never thought I'd say. It's a big deal. Huge.

I remember when my cousin got her first pair - and when she went outside...she started asking about sounds such as birds and wind in the trees...it is amazing to hear when you didn't know what you were missing out on.

Yes, that is what my counselor told me. I'm surprisingly, very excited.

The look on your face when you realized you could hear her was pretty awesome. It was almost as good as that video when the baby heard stuff for the first time.

I'm super excited for you!
